BCM and public authorities achieve an incident-free new year

According to their press release, Buffalo City Metro together with government departments carried out various operations to keep the citizens safe during the festive season especially the new year celebrations.

The City is part of the SAPS Joint Operations Centre (JOC) which took place from
the 23rd of December until the 2nd of January 2022.

The centre includes Disaster Management, Law Enforcement, Traffic, Fire, Police Life-saving, Ambulance services and NSRI.

As of 31 December 2021, no major incidents were reported to the Centre except
for a near drowning in Bonza Bay Beach. The person was pulled out in time before actual drowning took place.

A drunk person experienced secondary drowning in Gonubie after he was pulled out and received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and ambulance was called for him.

On the other hand, a 4-year–old child who was missing in Chintsa was found.
