Community raises R150 000 for food

By Khuthala Nandipha

Close to 200 families in Kidd’s Beach, East London and surrounding rural villages are currently receiving food parcels from an amount of R150 000 raised by companies and individuals during the Covid 19 lockdown. The Kidds Beach Rate Payers Association (KBRPA) in collaboration with East London based NPO, Small Projects Foundation and Ikhaya Lithemba have ensured that no one inland of the R72 to Somerset West goes hungry.

“We supply food, purchased from donations to people who are in distressed situations.  We have already spent R23 000 for 40 families. This week, 130 families will benefit. We wish to encourage more communities to stand together and those that can, to assist by donating funds,” said Chairman of the KBRRA, Stephen Keet.
