Councillor’s home vandalised

Duncan Village councillor, Ayanda Mapisa’s kitchen door was set alight on Saturday with tyres and other plastic material used to start the fire.
At the time, there were 13 family members in her home and at 2am, one of the children alerted the family about the fire.

While some have alleged that the incident could be as a result of a lack of service delivery from the Councillor, Mapisa told the Eastern Cape Rising Sun, “It is not ANC members who did this, these are criminals who are pushing their agenda, which has nothing to do with service delivery.”
She reaffirmed this to be an act of criminals stating the ANC would not harm her family.

This incident coincidentally happened, a month before her appointed term as ward 08 councillor comes to an end.
“The community doesn’t come in at night, they show through protests when they are not happy with you, however for this case, there was no protest and it has been quiet in our ward.”
“My mother was traumatised a lot by this, we had to take her to the doctor so that she could get some sleep,” concluded Mapisa who reported the matter to the police.
