Michiefield College in Southernwood, East London hosted an Easter Parade last Thursday, April 1.
The parade was to teach the learners the importance of Easter and the meaning behind it. Educators asked their learners to showcase their creativity and create designer Easter hats.
The grade RR to grade 7 learners had an opportunity to parade their hats and show off their creativity in front of their peers and educators.
Eight learners from grade RR to grade 7 won Easter prizes such as Easter bunny chocolates and Easter eggs on completion of the parade. The children enjoyed the day with snacks and ended it off with a movie. Principal Cheree Mc Ewen said that this was something they were planning on adopting as one of their school’s regular activities. “These activities will not only be to raise funds but to also teach children about the importance of holidays while also teaching them to be creative,” added Principal Mc Ewen
