First-ever women’s football in BCM

On Sunday, Gompo Local Football Association in partnership with Jeff Driving School has launched the first-ever women’s football league in Buffalo City Metro.

Jeff’s Driving School members who have passed their driving licence were also accompanied by the launch, where they handed over five driver’s licenses to Gompo LFA personnel.

Both, Gompo LFA and Jeff’s driving school have been working on eliminating poverty by transferring skills and creating jobs.

In the official address by Gompo’s LFA chairperson, Vukile Mlanjana said ” The social responsibility element of our programme has strengthened our relationship with the community and greater BCMM, resulting in social cohesion among community members.”

Present on the launch to send a message of support to the Association and the women’s players were BCMM Sports Council.

Simthebile Balekani says that the women’s league is said to commence in September 2021 and the teams that will be playing are:
Nav Galaxy FC.
Sam Staan FC.
Braylen Stars FC.
Birmingham City FC.
Royal Bucks FC.
Cintsa Young Stars.
Mighty Kids FC.
Lion Strikers FC.
With two sponsored tournaments by Charles Nduku and Vusi Khumalo.
