Mdantsane’s Amahle Qomfo has been crowned as the International Junior Miss SA provincial winner

Amahle Qomfo, 14, born and bred in Mdantsane, East London, currently doing Grade 8 at St Christopher’s Private School at Kidds Beach, entered the International Junior Miss South Africa pageant in Durban, representing the Eastern Cape, and won a scholarship worth R10,000 and was also crowned the International Junior Miss South Africa Provincial winner.

“I won a scholarship worth R10 000 because I was the top achiever academically in my category and how I balance my academics and pageant life,” said Amahle.

“I entered this pageant because I wanted to use the platform to become a voice to motivate and inspire other young girls. I also wanted to boost my own self-confidence.”

Qomfo started modeling in 2017 when she was 9 years old and has previously competed in the Hemingways High and Primary Schools Heritage competition, Pageant SA, Elite SA, and the International Junior Miss South Africa 2021.

The monetary winnings from the modeling competitions are usually used to buy school shirts and school supplies for the children that are less fortunate for the Amahle Qomfo foundation.

In 2017, Amahle started doing charity work, supporting orphanage homes. “I supported a project called Brush to Live initiated by Unako Ntshintshi. With this project, I donated toothbrushes and toothpaste to children living with congenital heart defects to promote their oral hygiene. Every year I spend my birthday, Mandela Days, as well as Christmas days with these children, “said Amahle.
