Stage Two loadshedding will be implemented from 22:00 tonight, Tuesday 9 February.
Eskom in a statement said that this loadshedding is necessary in order to preserve and replenish the emergency generation reserves and to maximize the capacity available during the daytime hours.
They currently have 4 858 MW on planned maintenance while another 14 375 MW of capacity unavailable due to breakdown and delays.
They expect some of these generation units to return to service from tomorrow, 10 February 2021.
Eskom, in their statement, requested that the public continue using electricity sparingly.
