Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality has learnt with great shock and sadness the news of the untimely departure of a committed community activist and business person, Barry Makhan.
Mr Makhan was an important member of the BCM community with an illustrious contribution as an activist during the struggle to end apartheid and in shaping the new South Africa. He served as a councillor which was an indication of his commitment to the betterment of all people of South Africa.
He spent his later years in business, and he contributed greatly in the marketing, branding and promotion of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality and many other organs of the state in the Eastern Cape. This role stretched to the private sector where he made his mark as a dependable business person. His commitment, skills and work ethic would be dearly missed by those who have worked with him and by those who were impacted upon by his work.
We send our deep condolences to the Makhan family, his friends and his comrades. We know that the pain is too deep and we hope that you will find comfort in the fact that he has been able to complete his task in this world and he is now resting in eternal peace. May his soul rest in Peace!
