Montywood, the home of African Cinema has announced that they are looking for talented, dynamic, and creative individuals that have a passion for filmmaking, acting and scriptwriting.
Sithembiso Xaso, the Head of Marketing and Communications said that they are running a door-to-door campaign around some of the Eastern Cape townships, in search of new actors, scriptwriters, and filmmakers. “We go and knock at their doors, introduce ourselves as Montywood and ask if there are any people interested in a career in film making,” said Xaso. “The door to door campaigns started on the 2nd of February in Scenery Park and are conducted weekly (Tuesdays), but we already went to Dice, Gompo and Mdantsane”, he added.
Montywood is looking forward to producing new talent in the Eastern Cape and even beyond and the purpose of the campaign is to allow communities to tell their stories. “The talent will be workshopped on scriptwriting, acting and behind the camera work and they will also be mentored to produce the film. Also, they will be given film equipment to film their stories” he concluded.
Successful applicants will be given Montywood access vouchers worth R20 000.00 to sell for themselves and their films will be accessed on the Montywood streaming platform. Vergenoeg, East London lookout for the next door-door campaign coming your way on Tuesday 02 March 2021.
