A distraught calf owner is offering a R1000 reward for information on how his calf was fatally injured.
Vuyile Sokoyi’s herdsman discovered that the calf had two broken ribs after the calves had been grazing grass in the vicinity of Nyara village in Mooiplaas. The other two calves were not injured.
Mr Sokoyi purchased five calves in February, two died while they were still young.
“I watched these calves grow and got used to them returning home safely. I was looking forward to seeing them all growing nicely, but unfortunately, this happens,” said a tearful Mr Sokoyi.
“I’m so hurt. If my calf had damaged anything, I wish the person had come to me and I would have paid, instead of harming my calf. I grew up in the villages and have never seen this happen,” a devasted Vukile said.
